The increasing interest in making Dubai the Middle East technology and cultural center in addition to its being one of the largest trading and tourism environment in the Gulf area, has increased the need for high profile educational institutions to establish themselves in the U A E.
Therefore Zayed University has added a new campus to their existing portfolio in the new Knowledge Village in Dubai. A design competition was held by Zayed University in which CRHI was a member of the successful design team lead by Dewan Architects.
The unique architectural layout along with the optimal use was the main criteria for winning the project. The building comprised 2 basement car park and 2 storeys of educational facilities including lecture halls and auditoria.
A reinforced concrete frame with waffle slab was used on all levels with raft foundation on tension piles to counter balance the uplift forces due to existing high water table. The design program was fast track to enable early start on site for the facility to be ready for the following academic year.
