Description of the Project
Client: Nakheel
Consortium: Campbell Reith Hill, Aukett Limited, Omrania & Associates and Dar Al Taqniya

The International City Lake, commonly referred to as Al Warsan Lake, is a cluster of artificially created wetlands in Al Awir region of Dubai. The lake lies inside the perimeter of the new development of International City to the south of the Dubai-Hatta Road. The lake consists of a number of distinct pools set in a flat desert landscape.
The lake and its neighbouring site is an important habitat for water birds and reeds. There is no regular feed of water to the lake. Water is pumped from the sewage treatment plants.
CRHI was retained in a project management role coordinating the consortium of international consultants where the scope was to enhance the lake and its surrounding and provide a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing conservation area and retain the ornithological importance of it and acquire international recognition of the site. The site houses a visitors’ centre, public aviary, and recreation park.
